Connect your Gmail

Connecting your Gmail lets Grenier read your messages — both who you exchanged them with and the message text — so it can work out who matters to you and when you last spoke.

It needs the full text to do that, but it doesn't keep it: each message is turned into a short summary by an AI, and the original is discarded. The summary writer is Groq, an external provider that doesn't retain your content or train on it; if it's unavailable, a local model runs as a fallback.

The connection is strictly read-only: Grenier never sends, deletes, or modifies any email on your behalf, and you can disconnect at any time from Settings. What Grenier stores — your contacts, those short summaries, and your notes — is encrypted at rest, and never shared or sold.

For the full plain-language walkthrough, see “What Grenier can and can't see”.
